Round Rock releases first renderings of multi-million dollar Kalahari Resort

We’re getting our first look at the 975-room Kalahari Resort set to be built in Round Rock, Texas.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas — After approving a deal in 2016 with Kalahari Resorts, known for their African-themed and family-style lodgings across the country, the city of Round Rock has released renderings of what the $350 million development will look like in Central Texas once it’s completed.

The renderings show the outside of the 975-room hotel, 150,000-square-foot convention center and portions of the 200,000-square foot indoor/outdoor waterpark, slated to be built on 351 acres of land on U.S. 79 across from the Dell Diamond and Old Settlers Park.

Incentives approved for $350M water park north of Austin

“Round Rock City Council unanimously approved Thursday a complex series of economic incentive agreements with Kalahari Resorts & Conventions that will see the Wisconsin-based company build a $350 million water park and resort in the suburban city north of Austin.”

Dec 16, 2016, 7:56am CST — In addition to capital investment stipulations, the deal requires the company to hire and maintain a workforce of at least 700. Kalahari plans to build a 975-room hotel and 200,000-square-foot water park while the city has committed to building a 150,000-square-foot convention center on the site along U.S. 79 across from the Dell Diamond minor league baseball stadium.

“Their Texas-sized glazed donut is no joke!” said one happy customer in a review used to achieve the ranking.

ROUND ROCK, TX — It’s official. The best doughnuts in Texas are in….(drum roll, please) Round Rock. More precisely, the best doughnuts in Texas are made at Round Rock Donuts. At least that’s the judgment of Buzzfeed, which created a Yelp-reviews-based algorithm to come up with its reckoning. The rankings were achieved by comparing the number of reviews for each doughnut shop and the number of stars each received.

Round Rock nets more new development at Austin’s expense

La Frontera, a mixed-use project in Round Rock north of State Highway 45 and west of I-35, is gaining some serious commercial development traction.

Emerson Process Management was one of the first corporations to take a big leap of faith on the suburban submarket area in 2012 when it moved its Austin campus away from the Arboretum area to La Frontera. The company also built an Innovation Center that opened in 2014.

La Frontera’s Last Major Development Announced

W2 Real Estate Partners is ready to break ground on Frontera Ridge, a 400k SF Class-A office campus in Round Rock. It’s on the last major land parcel within the 328-acre, 4M SF La Frontera mixed-use development, and directly fronts SH 45. The $100M project can be doubled to 800k SF, but for now plans call for two 200k SF Class-A office buildings around a park area. The Central Green, as it’s called, is modeled after Silicon Valley campuses and will have special event space, a food truck plaza, outdoor lounge areas, rain gardens and shaded terraces. It’s designed to preserve a group of large 100-year-old oak trees. Frontera Ridge is targeting LEED Silver.
